Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to an engine without oil?
Over time, the fast-moving parts breakdown the oil and lessen its ability to absorb heat and lubricate the engine. That’s why your vehicle actually NEEDS to have its oil changed! If you continue to use the same oil, your engine has a very good chance of overheating or simply seizing all together.
Does GCOC maintain my vehicle warranty from the manufacturer?
You’re not required to have oil changes and other regular maintenance performed at a dealership. If you choose to have services performed elsewhere, manufacturers still have to honour new-car warranties. Remember to keep your receipts.
Do you offer any other services and repairs?
Yes, see our Services Page for a full list of drive-thru services we offer or call the shop for any further information needed 604-888-9000.
Do you guarantee your work?
The workmanship provided by Great Canadian Oil Change is warranted to be free of defects for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of service or 5,000 kms, whichever comes first. The warranty does not include damage to your vehicle resulting from tampering, alteration, misuse, abuse, or neglect by the Customer, unauthorized repair or alteration or an act of God. Great Canadian Oil Change must be given the opportunity to inspect a Customer’s vehicle for any warranty claims and repair as necessary.
Why is synthetic motor oil more expensive than conventional oil?
Synthetic oil is a man-made lubricant that costs more to produce than conventional oil. Synthetic oil provides increased intervals between oil changes, improved fuel economy and overall greater engine protection.
What happens to used oil from the car?
Great Canadian Oil Change in Langley recycles all used oil from services completed.
Do you do oil changes on all types of cars?
Yes, we service most makes including Volvo, Land Rover, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz etc. We also service Hybrid vehicles and most diesel vehicles. Ask about our Diesel Deal when servicing your diesel vehicle.
My check engine light is coming on, but there’s plenty of oil in the car. What’s wrong?
When the “Check Engine” light comes on, your car is telling you to have the vehicle checked out at the earliest possible opportunity. A “Check Engine” light means that your car’s computer system has recognized a fault in one of its circuits. It is different from the oil pressure light that means “STOP” driving the car.
